If so gay people would become straight all the time since straight is still the norm and there's few romantic movies, for example, featuring a same sex people. They don't though because it doesn't work that way but I bet many would wish it was that simple since being gay is not easy. Makes it harder to both find love and acceptance.
I think you need to update your views a little. Teaching religion and teaching sexuality is not the same thing. Religion is a free choice for most people nowadays and doesn't need to be enforced on anyone who doesn't live in a religious society. There's also no facts when it comes to religion, only beliefs.
Sexuality on the other hand is something you don't choose and that people suffer on the daily from due to people not accepting them. For people to find acceptance for the fact that a lot of people actually falls in love with the same gender and not care so much about it would be a great thing. It would fall into the norm more and become less of a big deal. Two consenting adults loving each other and whatever they choose to do in the bedroom is only their business anyway.
