  • The problem is the rights of trans people aren’t a value or something to agree or disagree with. They have the right to exist. Teaching children that is no different than teaching them that slavery was bad or Nazis were evil. It’s no different than teaching them we all have the right to free speech and the right to bear arms. Imagine if somebody was on here saying schools need to stop teaching children about the second amendment because they shouldn’t indoctrinate children with conservative values that half the country disagrees with.

(Side note, fun fact: nowhere near half the country thinks trans people shouldn’t have the right to exist. Hell, not even half of republicans think that. Only 38% of republicans think minors should be denied transition based medical care, for example.)

As far as religion goes, schools can and do teach that religion exists, they just aren’t supposed to favor one religion over another. It’s the same thing here. They’re not teaching children that they are trans, they’re just teaching them about the existence of transgenderism. Which, again, isn’t something that’s disputable.

As far as not teaching kids conservative values, they’ve been doing that this entire time. Every time a teacher tells their class there’s only two genders, they’re indoctrinating them with conservative propaganda. And that’s the still the default across much of the country. Unless you don’t think schools should ever mention anything about sexuality or gender - which is a TERRIBLE idea - there’s no neutral position, they’re either going to learn the liberal view or the conservative view. They might as well be taught what science has proven(there’s more than two genders) and what the constitution says(that everybody has equal rights), since that’s the truth.

Oh, and bonus fun fact: critical race theory is a law school course. Nobody’s teaching it in grade school, no matter what your uncle shares on Facebook.

    • I think you are confusing the conservative party with the "normal" thought process of the average American.

Do you honestly think trans issues are the top of the average person's mind? Of course not! What they dont want their kids to do is come out as being trans. Especially if it was influenced due to the toxic culture children are constantly being exposed to. Trans people taken as practically saints compared to normal people. How it's brave to come out as trans as to imbue it with a greater purpose than a strictly personal individual choice.

Bonus fact. Yes critical race praxis is being taught in schools. Not at a college level of course... they have to dumb it down to a 1st grade level because teaching children to be racist is aparently the social justicy thing to do now a days.

      • The “normal” thought process of the average American is the supposed “liberal” view that OP is so concerned about. The average American doesn’t see anything wrong with being trans and they don’t think they should be discriminated against. That’s the vast majority of Americans, including most republicans.

If a person is trans, they should feel comfortable coming out as trans. Making them uncomfortable with it because their bigot families don’t want a trans family member doesn’t actually stop them from being trans, it just makes them more likely to kill themselves.

I think you missed a word in that last sentence, but yes, teaching children to not be racist is the “social justicy” thing to do. Because being racist is bad and we should stop teaching children to be racist, which conservatives have been doing for decades.
