How would you feel if a stranger asked you what your religion was?

  • I lived in a country where this was usually the first question people asked you. At first it was very surprising, but I soon came to understand that for them it was quite normal, and they did not consider it an intrusive question. I'm not religious, but I would usually lie and say I was Christian (the expected answer due to my physical appearance) so as not to start some major debate.

Sometimes the non-answer starts the argument, kind of the other side of the coin from what RoseIsabella said. If you tell a Jehovah's Witness that you're a devout Roman Catholic, they'll leave you alone, because you're spoken for...but if you tell them you don't believe in God? Look the fuck out, because they'll be knocking on your door every Sunday before 10AM.
