$1.9M (excluding personal residence). That's only the top 2% of the population. When I was young, I thought becoming a wealthiest 1%er would be a nice goal. Well, I failed to make it. But, I had fun doing career things I liked. I learned that money can never make you happy, but it can make you really really satisfied.

Want to get satisfied? Figure out how to live 10% below your means and invest the difference in a broad based market index ETF.

With due respect, if you are rich, don't you have more interesting things to do than waste time on this site?

That's a valid question. Firstly, only the top 1%ers are rich. I am merely high net worth. Secondly, I have only one friend (an ex-colleague) in real life. I have terrible problems getting dates with women mostly because my lack of attractiveness is an issue. Having a female companion is a requirement for almost any meaningful social interaction with groups, with travel, and making new friends.

Thirdly, this site may seem like a waste, but it's the only social interaction I get. When I see a case where an analytical viewpoint will help someone, I offer my suggestion. I have learned that enabling other people to offer emotional support to those in need is my most effective course of action.

The solitude I live in sometimes works in my favor to pursue my interests. For example, I researched design issues with Thorium fission reactors as an area of my interest in nuclear physics a day ago. I'm an avid reader; I play acoustic guitar; and have other hobbies. It sounds like a paradox, but I find money to be boring except for return-on-investment. This interest puts a high level of financial efficiency into my solitary lifestyle.

Lastly, I'm open to suggestions. Being on a forum of people with all levels of different abilities means you'll hear something useful for time-to-time. Go ahead. I'd love it if you took a shot.

If you count my parents house that they're giving me when they pass about $720,000. Right now my own house is worth about $200,000 and I have a modest amount of savings. 2 cars a boat. Bunch of tools and shit. Huge propane tank full of propane.

    • Did you buy the propane from Hank Hill?

Lol no actually when I bought my house it was in the backyard. I didnt even check it for a year assuming it was empty. Then I checked it and its full. Id guess over $2,000-3,000 worth of propane in it maybe alot more. Im just keeping it and I found the cord and bought a generator that can run off propane or gas. If shit hits the fan I could power my house for over a month with it
