You should be scared of cockroaches. They breed exponentially and spread disease. They shit everywhere and crawl through their own feces and spread it- along with loads of other unpleasant bacteria- to places like your countertops and toothbrushes (yes, they eat toothpaste and will crawl all over your toothbrush). Look it up.
As this other person said, the only way to get rid of the lizards is to eliminate their food source...as in, hire an exterminator, for fucks sake.
