How to accept the fact that you're gonna die someday?

I know that I'm gonna die someday, which truly terrifies me. As it's unavoidable, though, I know I should just accept it. The big question, however, is how. Any suggestions?

  • The breath you're taking while reading this was never promised nor owed to you. The fact that you can be afraid of your own death is a blessing in its own right; you're conscious enough to be aware that you're alive

There shouldn't be any sense of entitlement about being alive, in any capacity. Ideally this includes not getting upset about running into red lights but even I'm human enough to encounter this vanity

But the bigger things have more sway than traffic. Fearing death is only going to ruin your life, then when you do die you may realize in your last moments you never really lived. Imagine how that would feel, your consciousness fading with the only thought being what you wish you could have done with your time

Again, you were never promised nor owed life to begin with. The neutral path would be to just accept things as they come. The positive path would be to make the best of any situation. It seems like you're on a negative path, making the worst of a situation

It's more up to you though to know how to change. You've heard the first step is acceptance? I can't accept your death for you. I can give you logic and reason, though. I hope it helps

What "Old Memory" said is correct. We're not programmed to accept it.
    It's normal to fear it.
Living things fight to stay alive.
It's not only our instinct; the need to survive is beyond our control.
The human body fights and battles to heal itself.
Our bodies have tiny little doctors and soldiers working hard to keep us healthy and alive.
So it's normal to fear it.
If your fear is overwhelming or interfering with your life, I hope you look into changing that. Either with therapy or self-therapy. Which you're already doing by posting this.

  • You never accept it until it happens.

You say that as if you've been reincarnated, and remember the last time. 🤔

    • Well, that's a reassuring thought. Do you know of a way of preparing for it, then?
