How quietly do you talk?

  • Speak from the pits of your belly. You can be louder, you are probably just shy and lack the confidence. Unless you have something wrong with your vocal chords. Which is possible, but not likely. I have known lots of people who speak softly but can still manage to yell when necessary.

Me, I have a normal voice. Clear and consistent. And when i get excited I can get loud. Sometimes I am loud.

    • No. Even in a good situation I speak quietly. I only start to "yell" if I get angry at someone. I could yell like a normal person but it hurts so much, and it would wear me out.

        • Yes. A little. I've just started reading music this semester.

          • One of the things about singing or playing a wind instrument is that you pull your breath from the bottom of your lungs, not the top. This will naturally give you more power in your speaking, and possibly more confidence.

But don't get angry when people ask you to repeat themselves. I have horrible hearing and find it very frustrating when people mumble at me then get annoyed that I don't understand and ask them to repeat themselves. I nod and smile way more than I would prefer. People like us have to work together and be patient and make accommodations to help with communication.
