I was about to comment on a post about a taboo, but I realized that other people may view sexual urges differently than I do. For me, I can just fantasize about something and be fine without feeling any compulsion to act it out in real life. Of course, this must be different for other people, so I'm putting up a poll to get a consensus.

Let's say you get aroused by something. How powerful is your urge to physically have sex with it?

"It" being literally anything that strikes your fancy, so to speak. A guy, a girl, a picnic table, whatever.

    Thanks for voting and commenting! To elaborate on what I said in the OP, the taboo from the other thread was about pedophilia.

    The post got me wondering exactly how powerful of an urge sexuality in general is to other people, given that they think someone with whatever fetish wouldn't be able to hold themselves back. If no one was capable of keeping themselves in check, it seems like rapists would be a lot more common.

    The "Extremely powerful" option was meant to convey that if you got aroused by something, you wouldn't be able to stop yourself from having sex with it. Not necessarily in a rape-y fashion, but you wouldn't be able to just walk the other way.

    Erm, nothing, really. I kind of have control over my own sexual "workings" if that makes sense. I remember when a girl put herself on me and put her hand down my trousers to "do stuff" and I, being the sadistic asshole that I am, decided that rather than push her back, I would make her feel like shit by showing she did not fit my fancy in a physical way.     It's strong as hell. When I see something or someone I want I usually go after it/them. Why do we covet if we aren't meant to claim? Why lust if we aren't meant to love?       Heh, maybe I should have expanded the question a bit. It involves touching something, I think your thing counts. The point was just to see how well people could hold themselves back at seeing the object of their desire.
