My mother was 32 and my father 36. Pretty standard age around here but all their siblings had children in their 20s and are slowly becoming grandmas and grandpas.
It saddens me to see the trend move more towards late thirties and fourties. If the next generation continues this trend grandchildren and grandparents will effectively be eliminated.
Sad ☹️, I have very fond memories and feel I learned a lot about my parents from my grandparents.
I have seen this trend sort of backfire and the next generation realize they want their children to know their parents. They in turn start having children really early like 16 to 20.
In fact this is the accepted norms in some countries. Where the grandparents are expected to raise the grandchildren while the parents between age 20 through 40 are at prime working age and are expected to provide for the family.
My parents had thiers between 21 and 27, I had mine between 22 and 26. I'm so glad they are adults and I get to watch them grow and live, as well as see and experience grandchildren.
Father 51, mother 22.
I was the eldest of eight siblings. Most appeared at two-year intervals after me, but there was a gap of several years before my youngest sister was born. She arrived when I was 17, so my father was then 68 and my mother 39.
Something in me really wanted the title of the post to read "How old were you when your parents got you?"
