You're not in a terribly bad place. A lot of age is freedom and loss of freedom. As you age you gain more and more freedoms regarding what you're allowed to do or trusted as being capable of doing (continues for the rest of your life), but on the other hand increased responsibility also cripples previous freedoms. For example, as a kid there are heaps of things you're not allowed to do or not trusted to do well, but on the other hand you're not really expected to have to do shit either so you have a lot of free time.
The best advice is to become reasonably wealthy but without becoming a shitty person (the trickiest part).
Then you're allowed to do whatever you like, but your financial safety net also prevents you from _having_ to do so much shit when you don't feel like it.
