How often do you wipe down your gym bench?

  • Exercise, yes. And get out as quickly as I can. I'd have less of a problem cleaning up if more people did it. At my gym, at least. Like putting back plates. I get to a machine someone else has just used. I remove his/her plates. Clean up the bench after him/her. Put my plates on. Clean station after I'm done. Take my plates off. Gets tiring after a dozen stations. JMOT.

    • I think the 'if more people did it' part is interesting. I do it when I get to a station becos I want it to be clean for me. I do it when I'm done becos its the right thing to do. What other ppl do or don't do isn't a factor in my liking things clean or being a good citizen at the gym. I look at the things that have to be done to stay fit as just part of the price I have to pay to look good. I don't really like brushing or flossing my teeth but I want to keep them so I do it its the price to keep them nice.

      • I respect your perspective, though I don't share it myself. Of course, the circumstances of our gyms may be different enough to motivate different evaluations of what's right or appropriate. No, I am not interested in spending time wiping down every single station before every set and after, for an average of four times per station, as others work in. The time this adds to my time in the gym accumulates too much for me.

And I don't know what constitutes "the right thing to do." Seems a malleable concept to me.

        Cheers.
