How much would you pay for a slave?

Let's say slavery is legal, ethics aside, how much do you think a slave would be worth in a successful, western country? The prices are in US dollars, and are for a 20-year-old, healthy, person. In the hypothetical scenario, the slave economy is closed, and thus slaves from abroad cannot be brought in.

Obviously there are loads of changeable factors, so feel free to put what price you think would be fitting for a person of different age, skill set, intelligence, strength, gender, unhealthy, etc, etc.

In Rome slaves often bought their own freedom, or were awarded it if their master liked them, so I suppose you could offer to give them their freedom after so many years of good service

I agree with this. Ethics aside, I would just feel very uncomfortable ordering someone around like that.

If I bought a slave, it would only be to free them, or, if it's a child, to adopt as my own so they don't get abused.

People can do a lot more than robots. Even basic jobs like being a waiter are to complex for robots to do on a commercial level.

I'd buy a little Brazilian boy and train him to be a footballer and sell him to Real Madrid for a tasty profit

U don't need to buy... Just adopt one. As a footballer he'll get profit not u. Also u need to be a coach for this. So many complications

There are plenty of players from south america who are "owned" by private agencies in the same way that they are owned by a club. Carlos Tevez was owned by an agent who loaned him to Manchester United for £50m for 3 years or something along those lines. He eventually had to buy himself out of the contract once he made enough money

Id say a slave in todays market would go for 60k+. Many people don't realize that only 3% of Americans owned slaves in the 1800s. Only the elites could afford them. They were always expensive.

Chances are if slavery was legal I would be taken and made a slave before I had any chance to own one. Assuming I wanted to own one.

I used to know a guy who told me straight up if hes ever given the chance hes gonna rape me. I don't know if hes joking or not but in a situation like this it makes you think. And what I'm thinking is I'm definitely not standing a chance

I know its fucked up but the only reason id buy a slave is to fuck her lol then i could put her back in her room so i didnt have to talk to her. It would be perfect.

I'm pretty sure loads of slaves used to serve in brothels in Rome; I imagine it happened in quite a few other places too. You could open a slave brothel, and have your pick, lol

I'd blame the moralfags who keep putting them into power. It's clear that the more power you have the more shit you get to do.

When I do drugs I'm seen as a lazy blight on society(I do them when my schedule is clear) when a wealthy prick dose it they get the benefit of getting a pass.

This life is super stressful and it's annoying that we have hypocritical assholes in power I'm all for hookers if said hookers are willing which ironically the wealthy aren't into as in the willing part.

2.4k would be a reasonable price for what I'm seeking. Moderate level of inteligence and health. So I can aquire inside intelligence of where these people are operating from and use the proper resources to get them into jail.

If someone sold themselves into slavery because no employment they could find would be enough to pay for them to live, and they were not eligible for state benefits, I would buy them if I could, and provide for them, and give them pocket money, and they would be my friend and helper, rather than living on the streets.

If after 7 years they wanted their freedom, I would give it to them.

Another thing it would depend on the slave laws in some former slave states you weren't even allowed to free your slaves.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • TheBlindInquisitor

I couldn't do it and if I did it would be to free them but there is only so many people I'd be able to free because it would depend on how much a slave would cost.
