How many years is normal to keep your same exact cell phone

So if I used this same phone for like 7 years now—That means—I’m due for a new one right???

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

For as long as you can until it's unusable.

    I've had mine since 1973.
    The case color is avocado.

If it's from 1973, it's either a mobile phone about the size of a toaster, or it's a room-mobile phone that plugs into the wall.

        I lied about the color.

That's about as useful as some of the bloat on the latest phones, and definitely much more socially positive.

Marketing experts for phone companies want you to buy a new one every six months I think. Kind of a waste really.
Kind of like how iphone now has some "better" version of the iphone x.

I am sure a seven year old cell phone might not be as advanced as ones today but if it still works and does what you need it to, then there is no reason to replace it.

Also, phone companies seem to be chomping at the bit to add dumb stuff just so the phone seems better. Like they are running out of ideas.

I keep mine until it becomes unresponsive or otherwise stops working as good. If your phone is still working fine after 7 years, not only is it a good phone worth keeping, but you probably treat it a lot better than most people treat their phones.

The only important question is whether your phone does what you need it to do.

Apple and all of it's money-grubbing, planet-destroying ilk want people to buy new crap all the time because that's how they keep making money. So they dangle shiny new toys in front of the kids (of all ages), the kiddies shriek, "Me want it! Me want it now!" and rush off to spend money they could put towards more positive things.

It's all a huge scam to sell you high profit-margin stuff you don't really want or need and which has an intentionally limited useful life. Companies are very good at manipulating weak-minded people into believing they must buy something new because it has some sparkly new feature of limited utility and because everyone else in the herd will have one.

About every two to three and a half years.

I had a Galaxy S4 up until a few weeks ago. Then I got an iPhone SE. But I only upgraded because the power button was messed up and it kept turning itself off.
But as long as it's usable, I'd say it's fine.

My upgrade is minimal around 4 years. Same # since 2001.

Mine's 5 years old, just replaced the battery and expect to use it another 5 years.

I get a new one when the one I have becomes a useless, un-functioning piece of crap. That can take forever though. XD
