To the posters arguing the toss above...you have forgotten that people aren't either totally gay or totally hetrosexual. There is no line. I know of really effeminate gay men that have children or that don't abhor the idea of having sex with a woman. Very few gays are so totally 100% gay.

It may or may not prove to be genetic, but there's an easier way to find out whether it's a choice. Simply ask gay people if they are gay by choice. I've never heard a single one say yes. Not a single one!

Dappled, I think it is genetic, you know. Here where I live, I've seen a lot of young boys (7-11) who exhibit very feminine traits and you just know that they will follow THAT route. They don't choose it, they can't help it - it's just their natural tendency. It's like when they were born they got a dose of something that was meant for the girls. I don't think anyone chooses it either because you can't choose whether you are attracted to men or women - you just are. It's like something switches on inside you when you are a kid...suddenly it's "Mmmm...girls! I want one!"
            You agree?

so does a straight man make the choice to like a straight women? I am guessing you are a straight man/woman so would you be ablt to 'chose' to just switch and date men if it wasn't socially acceptable to date a women? Would you be able to date a man???

            • dappled

What's more likely? That something like half a billion people have had a secret meeting to agree on a particular lie or have somehow been "brainwashed" without any evidence of this ever coming to light?

Or that half a billion people are just telling the truth, and that you are mistaken?

Seriously, think about it logically for a little while.

I can work with it though, I can read an idiots comment and reply to it.

You don't want to drink urine because you find it disgusting, homosexuals like other men because they find being with a female sexually to be disgusting.

I will say tis again and hope you take notice to it, you're a moron.

        • Ashlie

It's not genetic. Sexuality and gender identity has it's basis in brain structure. If you had any kind of scientific knowledge whatsoever, you would have found one of the several studies in the past 20 years that proves this. Dolt.

          Comment Hidden ( show )
        • meowmeowmeowmeow

It may not be proved to be genetically derived, but neither is it so clear cut to say that it is a "choice". In my case I believe certain experiences that led me to appreciate the female form over a males was what determined my sexuality. But I certainly don't feel as though I "chose" to be gay. If you look at the Kinsey scale you'll see that it is likely most people are bisexual and that a small number of people are exclusively homosexual or heterosexual.

Breeding like flies or viruses without natural or self-imposed checks and balances seems deviant for a bipedal beast that's part of the Animal Kingdom.

But on another note, I agree with you. It is a choice. It's a choice to follow your instincts and gut feelings instead of trying to stuff them down and live according to an imposed authoritarian moral code.

On a side note, I defy you to prove that Hollywood is run by anarcho-communists. I think most people would agree they are capitalists of a particular pernicious ilk.

Shall I translate these paragraphs into Idiotese for you?

No offence taken, but I still do not see what you are trying to get at, how can the country of Canada and the country of the United States be on the same common grounds if I am trying to see you correctly called AMERICA? No, I am not American, me a Canadian, if what you are also trying to state is that Canada and the United States are on the continent called Northern America, then so it is, but that still does not make Canadians, Mexicans and so on and so forth Americans. If I am trying to see you correctly, we are still Canadians and Mexicans, if you would like to state back a tad more explination it would be greatly appreciated, because my friend I still cannot see what you are trying to get at, MY STUPID, MAYBE IT IS DUE TO THE FACT THAT NOW A DAYS I HAVE ALOT OF SENIOUR MOMENTS, comes with being 58. :D Take care.

To be on that straight path, you'll need to consider females as chattel property, as is appropriate in whatever morally conservative book of mythology you call the holy word of your god. And, that being the case, why don't you simply get off this board, knock a bitch (because that's what they are, right?) over the head and make her your wife-slave? I'm sure the law and its enforcement will consider you in the right. Right?

Morals do not come from religion. They are an instinctive trait that comes from millions of years of evolving and experiencing certain situations. In fact, studies have shown that people from secular societies will behave the exact same way as people of faith.

As it so happens, I'm a pagan. I believe in your god and mine. I believe your god is an anal retentive, psychopathic theocidal sadist, or as your own gnostic practitioners (that you had killed or silenced so long ago) named "Demiurge, the false god of the world". I believe my god smiles upon me when I get piss drunk and tinkle all over your cul-de-sac and your car and your cat and your church.
