How many gifts do you buy your children on their birthdays?

I usually only got my daughter a few small things. The family went a little nuts however. These days (she's 11 now) I get her one good thing. An ipod this year, a sweet bmx bike last year. Its not good to overdue it. They appreciate it more when its less. I think anyway. Because too many things will just get overlooked or lost
