I usually only got my daughter a few small things. The family went a little nuts however. These days (she's 11 now) I get her one good thing. An ipod this year, a sweet bmx bike last year. Its not good to overdue it. They appreciate it more when its less. I think anyway. Because too many things will just get overlooked or lost
Wow really? I usually got 2 or 3 presents as a child, but they'd be 2 or 3 things I really wanted.
Most kids don't need loads of stuff, it just encourages an overly materialistic attitude. The best thing you can do is make your children feel extra special on their day, which doesn't require a barrel of toys.
So I would suggest between 1-5 toys.
I just asked by mum and dad, and they normally bought me about 8 things, apparently. It always felt like a lot more to me. I don't think it really matters, it depends on what it is, and if it something that they really want. Tbh, I doubt that the 4 y/o is old enough to care that much, so just a couple of items would be fine there.
Well my sons are twins so we have to make sure we buy them the same amount of gifts, usually three each - always a book for both, a gift they would appreciate like a toy (they're 5), and usually we go on a trip to a surprise destination for their birthday.
Nothing over the top!
Kids these days grow up to be entitled, selfish assholes because they are so spoiled at a young age. Kids really are becoming like Dudley Dursley, from Harry Potter...it's really disappointing. I think kids should get 1-3 REALLY special gifts on their birthday. It's not about the quantity of the gifts, it's the quality.
