How many friends do you have?

When I say friends, I mean real friends, people who visits you and vice versa with some regularity, people who you interact at least once a week, people you can trust and are totally reliable for you, people who are with you in the good times and in the bad ones.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • People I see every week and people I trust are two different things

  • Internet: Zero
    Real Life: Also Zero

  • Four. Quality over quantity.

  • If you take out the "interact at least once a week" portion, I have 5. If you keep that part in...zero :(

    • I understand you, we interact constantly with a lot of people but it doesn't mean they are our truly friends.
Reliable friends are so hard to find, so if you have it, make your best to keep them.

  • I've just counted, and I'm finding it hard, despite your definition, to determine an exact number. I'm thinking about 13-20. One of my closest friends I haven't seen for well over a month, and therefore, going by your definition, she doesn't count? I don't like that, nor do I like to count my friends. Your definition, the one I've tried to stick to, is my list of what I'd consider very good or close friends. Friends are more general, and I'm not sure who'd I'd consider a friend or not. Hmm. Yeah, I'll go with 18. That's alright, I guess. Not massively popular nor loner-ish; I'm happy with that number.:)

    • My case is similar, I have two close friends.
If I remove the word "close", it would be three.
And like you said, I'm very thankful to have them in my life, too!

  • One that's crazy,
    One that's smart,
    One that's cutesy,
One that always helps me "graduate",
    One that's hyper,
One that's perverted and my crush, and
One that's obsessed with Star Wars and my crush's friend

These are all of my best friends!

  • One big zero. I'm trying to make one in my mind, but I'm not having much progress. =w=;

  • I have a lot of friends. I wish i had none.

  • To be honest- only one REAL close friend. I don't want to ''discount'' any other friends, but they just aren't as close to me as my one real good friend.

  • Wow, this poll makes me feel popular.
Friends who visit each other? I would say over 100. Probably around 20 I will see weekly.
I wouldn't consider most my friends to be the most reliable of people though.

      • He. He's like me in his own little obscene way, we like the same things, which I wasn't able to find in many other people.

  • under these circumstances... none

  • By your definition? None.

  • 2 for sure + 5 in the making. It really takes me a long time to truly consider someone my friend even if I see them often, have known them for over a year and have a relative sense of trust in them. They don't know this, but they remain in friend limbo to me for about 5 years. A couple of them are almost there.

  • My boyfriend is my best and only friend that would fall under your description. I voted 1, if sisters count, than 3 friends.

  • I've had (and still do have) a very small number of internet friends who I genuinely consider in that capacity.

My friendship group here at university is about twelve people, with maybe seven or eight other good friends dotted around. Of that twenty, maybe six are "real" by your definition.

My friendship group at home has a similar number of people to my one at university. I'd say at least the same number of those are "real" friends too. So let's say fifteen overall "real friends".

I don't really like making a hierarchy of my friends because to me they're all good friends to me and I'd do a lot for any of them, and it feels like doing a great disservice to the others to call them "not real friends". I've been vague about it for that reason.

    • Friends and friendship are not easy words to define, and going beyond, to "real life" those persons that we call friends barely are friends. I am not saying friends does not exist, but it is too hard to find the real ones.
