God I hope my technical college allows students to get half credit for the classes. I'm a procrastinator who makes 90% of my grade in the last 3 weeks of the semester.

I’m very disappointed and angry that I might be out of a (dream) summer job, but money and dreams wont matter if our world becomes like Fallout or the Purge.

Depends on the country; depends on the level of panic. Everyone seems to be running around like headless chickens for a disease that really doesn't warrant it.

At least when one hasn't any immune system issue or any other sickness or disorder that may harm them. Healthy people should really stop with the bs.

Oh damn, that is true. Here is the funny thing - the public and businesses will let this virus and the panic stand in the way of St Patrick's day, right?

I guarantee though if this were to happen around the holidays, the public and business would not stall for a second.

Now it is time for some humor. Do you know the big difference between St Patrick day and Martin Luther King day?
No one wants to be black on MLK day.

They are predicting that corona is going to wipe out about two billion people worldwide by this time next year. Corona is also getting immune to hand sanitizers and wipes so those won't help.

The problem is that not only will hospitals be over crowded, a lot of doctors and nurses will die from it so those places will be short staffed.

There are going to be a lot of people dieing at home alone, slowly suffering because no one can help them.

        • howaminotmyself

The hand sanitizer thing is stupid. Those kill bacteria, not viruses. Use soap, more effective. This has always been true.

I agree that leggs is being pessimistic, but I don't disagree with a single thing he has said here.

This virus is dangerous, and by the time this is all over we will all have lost people to it.

        • hauntedbysandwiches

They're trying to slow the rate at which people get it because if a ton get it at once, it'll completely overwhelm hospitals and it spreads much more rapidly than the flu which makes it a pandemic

          • Clunk42

I say that's an unconstitutional usage of the government's power. The Coronavirus is definitely not an emergency and there is no "right to hospitals", nor is there a "right not to get infected", and the government's job is simply to protect the people's rights. Businesses can shut down and lose a bunch of money if they want, but the government should not be doing such garbage.

Yeah like you know shit. Corona is very dangerous. Why do random people think they know better than professionals!!! If someone you knew caught it you would not think this way guaranteed.

Some people are saying in England it could be anything up to 6 months. They've already barred off the lobby to fast food places to 'take out and delivery only'. Not even sure if I'll have a job by tomorrow, let alone the end of the week. How are they addressing the no work issue in other countries?.. Just so I can get a grasp on the possibilities on how the English gov are going to screw me over.

    • I heard England was behind on the US in closing things down and mandating social distancing so that's quite bad. In the US, they aren't saying how long and aren't positive yet which direction to go with all the people out of jobs.

Most of the schools are closed until further notice, some say until the end of the year but no time frame for anything so I was curious what others thought. Looks like at least another month for keeping everyone inside which although boring also seems smart.

They're talking about sending everyone a check of $1000 or more per month but nothing is certain just yet.

Here all the schools are closing down tomorrow, but the youngest kids will still continue going to school unless things get worse - just so the parents can work. Let's hope it's worth it... And i'd say about two weeks to begin with but it could be the entire spring unless things suddenly turn for the better. They don't even know how graduation for the students graduating this spring will be - possibly they'll even postpone that.

I honestly thought things would progress within two weeks but I think it’ll be 3 or more. As a college student I’m so stressed and disappointed I have to remain home for the next 5 months until my next semester. (Which means being annoyed by my mother). However, with the new curfews and shut downs I think we are going out of commission for a month or more. I think things will get better but slowly.

Idk how you take it but being home with your parents sounds better than doing lots of home office shit while developing something that cannot be indentificated due to closed doors at neurologists, psychatrists, just any specialized doctor around here. As annoying as parents can be, working when you feel like life is useless (in a non-suicidal way) sounds pretty good. But I don't know your mother, so I'm shut now.

We have already been out 2 weeks and I don't think the kids will be back.

Businesses 2-3 weeks from now, otherwise they wont reopen, unless they are big chain stores.

should not be closed at all, seeing how this is the 7th time we have had corona virus in America. More people died from swine flu, think about it, this has become blown way out of proportion.

No one is going to raise their hands to stop you. Lucky for you, if you are in the USA, the weather is turning warmer now so at least you will not freeze.

The problem is, if you live in the wild, mosquitos who carry Zika, west Nile, h1n1, h2O and whatever will be biting you.

Maybe just keep living in your present home instead.
