How is someone a democrat or republican?

I can't seem to understand how it's normal to be a democrat or republican. How can someone fully lean a certain way. I talk to people who are democrats and republicans and they don't seem to actually be democrats or republicans they seem to hold some views of the party they represent but some views outside of their party as well. What's with the labels anyway? Aren't we all independents? How can someone agree with 100% of what a party stands for?

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Well, in the US, there's only 2 viable parties so you pick the one that aligns most.

When you pansies are ready for a REAL political party, hit my (completely safe and certainly not wire-tapped) line

Being politically inclined is pointless. It’s no different to believing in the ancient desert wizard. Basically just structures set up to occupy your tiny brains with poopy so you are not in the way.

Yea sometimes on both sides they totally side with one side on EVERYTHING. That just shows they arent really thinking for themselves or its a major coincidence.

I vote republican but I am more pro union, believe in decriminalization of all drugs, easier access to pharmaceuticals without prescription, police reform and investing in ourselves more than a quick fix like manufacturing in china we should transition to mexico. Will solve illegal immigratioj issue, makes neighbors stronger, pay cheap labor, and logistically much more practical.

Party platforms. Look up and read the Republican Party platform and the Democratic Party platform. Those are the party's self described most basic statement of policy.

People pick the party they agree with most. For example, I'm a Constitutionalist, but that does not mean that a theoretical perfect government would value the same things as that party; they are simply the best party for America currently.
