How does one become a “repo man”?

I’ve decided what I wanna do after school. Want to become a “Repo Man” or a “Repossession Agent” so can take peoples cars away from them if they fall behind and can’t make their payments? How do you do this? What kind of education or school is needed? Or do you just fill out a job app and that’s it?

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

How bout you get a job that doesnt involve being a dick to people having a hard time?

Maybe you could consider being an EMT if you want to actually help people.

Can’t Pay We’ll Take it Away is a classic. Did you see the one where the tramps tried to throw a fridge at the repo men?

Can't say I've ever bothered to watch one of those shoes. Sounds awfully dramatic

Theres not any formal qualifications needed to be a repo man. you will have to be willing to be shot at cussed out and just generally treated like crap by the people who you are repoing from.

We should always follow our dream, even when that is only to become another mindless little cog in the meat-grinder that is American capitalism.

I'm pretty sure there are no formal qualifications necessary to become a repossession agent, but when you apply for the job you might have to take a psychological assessment test. Such companies will only hire high-functioning sociopaths who can carry out instructions without any concern about the effect their actions will have on people in difficulties and who also believe that money is the only thing that matters in life. Your interest in the job suggests you may already have this aptitude, but there are online courses available at assholeschool.com.

Nobody should ever buy anything on credit.

Also no one should be a piece of shit class traitor and help the rich scumbags who sell stuff on credit.

I'm pretty sure those are some pretty low wage jobs through a repo agency, because who needs high educational skills to lift heavy objects? You are just grunt labor.

I didn't think they needed any sort of qualifications. Why would they?

There are no formal qualifications as others have advised.

However, its not as glamorous as the movies make it out to be; and overall pay is low for things like cars. Typically, you only get paid for being successful... and get nothing if not. There is really not a huge demand for "repo" men either. The vast majority of people turn in their cars, etc. if they cannot continue to make payments and go into default. But, there is some.

Of more interest is the international level repossessions of aircraft and other high value items when leases are broken or loans not paid. In the case of aircraft a team of people show up at the airport with all the appropriate paperwork and present themselves to airport management. Airport management then takes actions as needed to prevent the aircraft from leaving unless people from that crew have taken possession and are flying it. That crew pays the normal airport service fees for that day. No cloak & dagger stuff with aircraft.
