I'm looking for OPINIONS of how people think the universe will end.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • It ends when I die of old age.

  • Not sure about the universe, I think the world however will end by a horrible drug tested on monkeys that makes them smart. The monkeys will then self administer the drug, become smart and kill all people.

Or the sun will burn out, though thats just crazy talk.

  • Chances are when our sun dies we are gonna die as well so I dont really care. I mean yea maybe weve colonized far enough out. Maybe. So far as our society is concerned are lifetime is on a clock. A really freaking big one but still

  • The Webb Telescope will eventually replace the Hubble which is in orbit around the earth about 350 miles or so into space. With the Hubble scientists have significantly increased our knowledge of the expansion of space. The Webb telescope will be in orbit 1.5 million miles from earth and will actually be in orbit around the sun. Its telescope will be significantly larger than Hubble’s and will use infrared technology to observe and photographs images significantly farther into space. Theoretically, the new system should be able to see the very origin of the “Big Bang”. If there was a big bang then everything in space should still be moving away from the origin, with the space between objects getting farther and farther away from each other. It will be exciting to see scientific knowledge develop with the advances in technological capabilities.

    • Holy shit. I never thought I would see you say something intelligent on here. I was starting to think your kind revolved entirely around sex, iin needs smart Jennifer more.

      • My kind? I’m just like everyone in America, working to make a living. I have a degree in Marketing and a Master’s in Business Administration. I have a wonderful job working for one of the largest sports franchises in the world, making a six figure salary. My kind? I volunteer at Food And Shelter For Friends, Meals On Wheels, and others that are less well known.

I’m also a sexual being that enjoys most, if not all facets of my sexuality. In other words, I like to get fucked and suck cock! My kind? There are thousands of “my kind” that are about living life to the fullest. If that offends someone, so be it!

    • The Webb telescope will actually be orbiting in a Lagrange point. It won't ever prove or disprove the Big Bang. In order to do that you would have to first determine the edge of the universe and the center. Something, that at this stage is beyond human comprehension. Any so called "scientist" who says they can do so is being disingenuous at best.

Unfortunately the Webb telescope won't live long enough to provide answers but it WILL send some amazing pictures back.

  • It'll just keep expanding.

    It's infinite.

    Supposedly.

  • I don't know about the universe but I can already tell the quality of our planet is on a downward trajectory to hell

  • My theory is that it will eventually retract to a single point due to gravity (or either the weak force, I'm not sure) gaining the upper hand over the expansion of the universe and make another universe.

      • Our sun will end, and all life as we know it will end. But there is no reason to believe the space around us will cease. Unless you want to get all philosophical about it and start discussing reality and what that actually means. Different questions with different answers.

        • That's not what I mean.
You wish that the universe was infinite. It's not. If it was, it woundn't be able to expand in the first place.

          • I really don't know enough about physics to argue this well, but I don't think that is how expansion works. Sure, space expands, but into what? Do we know? Can we know? Its like trying to show a sphere using a flat piece of paper. It is not the best tool. I don't believe we have the tools available to us to express expansion accurately. Maybe we do? I have no flippin clue. We aren't expanding into nothing.

            • You can't expand something infinite. It's not possible. So the universe has to expand into "something" (or nothing). We can't know what it is expanding into. Maybe there's nothing beyond the universe. Maybe there's another dimension. Maybe there's a secret door to the Batcave.
It's not possible to know right now.
And yes, it could expand into nothing, with the universe replacing the "nothing" as it expands.
