I wouldn't ask a friend,text or call because if you are friendly before asking, this guy might mistake it as a joke and not be serious about his reply, but face to face he will get that your serious. Just pull him off from everyone(one on one) and tell him your feelings, don't ask for an answer straight away because putting a guy on the spot may not always work, so tell him to tell you his answer some time in the future and if you see him casually on a everyday basis act normal and don't SHY away from him. because if he says no he knows that you will still be able to be friends and it will make the decision easier and not rushed or forced. (I am a guy:) )
