How do you get your music?

I feel bad when I torrent so I also buy albums when given itunes cards. I have also had pre bought music dropboxed to me and more often than not I just download music from a website that probably does the torrenting themselves. ( I hate streaming services as a lot of the bands I like dont have all their albums available). So, how do you get your goods?

    I bought a CD a year ago.

I used to buy lots of CD's, then downloaded a lot too, but since a few years ago I lost my iPod, don't have an active cell phone, can't fucking figure out how to work a computer anymore anyway and haven't seen a music store in ages. So pretty much I got used to not owning music anymore and I just listen to the radio or youtube here and there.

I really miss Tower Records, and spending hours on a Saturday thumbing through CD'S pondering a purchase. But times have changed, and I now purchase mostly all my CD'S through Amazon, where you can get pretty much any artists title. I own 540 CD's, and only download certain singles I love, but don't wanna buy the whole CD. Guess you can consider me mostly old school.

Yeah, I miss that too. But I think they should've introduced like a search engine computer thingy with a disc burner way back when downloading was in its infancy. I so woulda went and paid to make my own custom CD, easy, fast internet, no virus worries and cheap enough. They coulda got people into the idea of still going to the store and still paying for music but they did nothing and now they are dead. After iPods they still could've made money on the basic idea. A fucking kiosk where you type in what you want and either buy a disc or plug in your thingy and download it. Artist gets paid, you get your music right away and no worries about viruses.

Most music I like is from lesser known bands/comedy groups, so I pay for it because I think it's important to support stuff you like so it can continue to exist.

A few of them have been doing the whole crowd funding thing lately, which can be fun.

Thats the same as downloading the music as far as the artists are concerned. They make nothing off the sale, and you get to listen to their "art"

        • It feels a little bit weird as I am usuly the only white person in my store when I go... getting past that, i often find lots of actually useful or rare/colectable stuff (its also a great place to get stuff that looks dated, like picture frames!)

I feel ya. Back in the 90's, I was in thrift stores at least once a week. They had the best stuff! They suck now :(

            • I dont know. Someone donated a dslr camera lense worth roughly $800 that I paid $20 for. Seems good to me.

They do suck! Too much poor quality clothing and anything that is newer or nicer gets put in the 'boutique' section and costs primo prices. I still go rarely if I need something like a dress outfit or for Halloween but it's always so disappointing.

Yess, my truck is slightly older than me, but I got the cassette adaptor and a discman so I can still rock out while I drive.
I will hold on to the "old" ways as long as possible

Cassette'S suck, especially the factory one's. You need better quality tape (Maxell Chrome was my favorite). I would buy the vinyl album, then record onto a chrome cassette. This was of course before I had a CD player in my car, and that'S when I forgot about cassettes. What'S really funny is that when I got my first car, I had to decide wether to go 8-track or cassette. I went 8-track because you could jump easily jump around between the 4 channels. I always regretted buying 8-track, especially after I purchased a home cassette player/recorder. In 1980 I through out my 32 8-tracks I had purchased over a 3 year period. Hindsight is 20/20.

I had one of those wood cabinet radio/8 track/record players that was the size of a dresser. Those things were ridiculous. Actually, I am pretty sure I had 2 different ones at some point. My parents had some 8 tracks, I remember Waylon Jennings and a Looney Tunes sountrack among them. I got to play them a bit on my cabinet stereo until they got rid of them at a yard sale.

Heh, my dad had a Carly Simon record that had her picture wearing a low cut top on it and he'd joke by tilting it and acting like he could see down her shirt. This one: http://carlysimonalbumcovers.blogspot.com/2011/06/best-of-carly-simon-1975.html?m=1

HOW COME???? i get it with super high quality..
try youtube down loader app , i think you can choose what type of quality you want

shit is a BAD word.. don't say it again

        • For each COPY you pull off of youtube, you loose a generation of sound quality no matter what the downlod settings are. If I'm gonna download music for free, I may as well just torrent it as the quality is much better.

I get all my music from Youtube, download and can also listen to them without wifi or data for FREE.

    You need these apps:
    - Documents 6
    - MyCloudMusic

The process SEEMS long but it really isn't that bad:

    1. Copy the youtube link of the video with the audio/song you want
    2. Open Documents 6 and open the internet on there (it should look like a compass icon on the bottom right)
    3. In this app's internet, go to any mp3 converter website (I use savedeo.com & flvto.com
    4. Paste the Youtube link and convert to mp3 or mp4 and download
    5. Within the Documents 6 app, go the downloads folder-->"edit"-->select your mp3-->"more"-->"share"-->select MyCloudMusic
    6. Organize your music in MyCloudMusic and enjoy! :)

You can even put your downloaded songs into playlists, shuffle, repeat, play music in the background, etc.

    Hope this helped someone!

I like a lot of indie music so I get emailed stuff I can download for free from several websites. It all has a public domain license so it's legal too.

I just play it on YouTube while I'm in the car. With the amount of commercials that they play, I'm pretty sure the artists are getting something from it.
