Just because someone has a degree doesn't mean they're smarter than anyone else.
I've met a lot of BRILLIANT techs who never went to college. Instead, they joined the military and received technical training.
And by technical training I mean a military training command that's tougher than any pansy ass college. Training where you're in one class for 40 hours a week, where scores below 80 are failing. Oh and on top of that you're expected to maintain your uniforms, living quarters, stand watches etc...
And even with the 0400 reveille and the crappy work load, it's still easier than being deployed.
So there's reasons to not go to college right away. One of them being that you're already working at a job getting technical experience - experience that often matters more than a piece of paper that says "graduated".
I completly agree with your comment that just because someone has a degree it doesn't mean that they're smarter than anyone else. Sometimes people cannot afford to get a degree or life has other plans for a person. Even if a person does get a degree we all know that here in the real world that's not nesacerally (sorry I'm a terrible speller)a passport for job for life. Not only that not all people are academic anyways but they could be very intellectual in other ways.
I'd never look down or pass judgement on anyone I've no right to. People have their own reasons for doing/not doing what they do. x
How do you feel about people who refuse to go to College?
