I don't know what to say about the quote. I would sincerely hope it's an overstatement. I can see how it applies to certain animals, but not others when it comes to the enjoyment of performing. Dogs and Dolphins seem to enjoy it, but I suppose an animal will do anything if its routinely rewarded with a treat.
I noticed you have a few animal star names as voting options. I have a few to add (due to their wonderful performances on celluloid)
Skippy the bush kangaroo
Milo (The Mask)
Coco (Red Dog)
And that jack russell in the movie "The Artist." It's performance in that film absolutely astounded me, how expressive that dog was. I was even thinking afterwards the academy should have an award to honour animal performers.
