There's different ways to go about this, while online quiz's may be a quick and easy way to find out what /might/ be your spirit animal, but the problem are the limited choices. If the quiz doesn't have yours as an answer, then it'll tell you the wrong thing.
There are multiple ways to find your animal, and you may even have more then one! The most common way people discover theirs is entirely accidentally, through dreams. Especially during a tough time during your life you may find you see a particular creature recurring in dreams trying to show you something or surrounded by some sort of symbolism. Repetitive dreams are especially important if they are trying to convey a message. Pay attention to which animals appear in your dreams and how often.
The other way is how I met my Hare and then the one I still have trouble identifying before they started appearing in my dreams too, and that's a type of self-exploratory-meditation. This is intended as a way of understanding yourself better but usually has the side effect of you also meeting your spirit animal:
Visualise yourself in a place you are completely at ease in, whether it's a childhood place you have fond memories of or something in nature, and then allowing yourself to be drawn under the earth somehow. Whether by a tunnel or some other method doesn't matter, whatever feels right to you. You will usually meet your animal somewhere along the way. Whether they guide you there or are waiting at the end of the journey for you. Eventually you'll reach some place unique to you and often it'll be a place that couldn't exist in reality. The things you see are usually a message to you on how your life is or what you need to do to improve yourself. When you're ready you can leave the place and return the way you came.
I have a lot of nightmares about mean black dogs trying to bite me. I haven't really noticed any dreams where there's "good" animals. Except when I have dreams of my own pets. Idk :/ Hopefully I'll find out soon.

Good luck!
