How do you define alive?
I would say that to be alive something must:
1. Eat
2. Utilize the energy from the food.
3. Excrete waste.
4. Reproduce.
Rocks and roadkill don't do those things.
According to your definition a forest fire would be alive.
Rocks can do all of those things when they are molten lava.....they " eat" , in other words they take in energy or how else would it become molten, they utilize the energy, thats how they come to the surface and move, they reproduce when they melt and merge with other molten rocks, and they excrete waste in the form of gas....
roadkill also breaks down and becomes part of other living things...
there is only differing amounts of energy ...no such thing as life or death...these are human made up words.....the universe is alive and so is EVERYTHIG in it....
How did life originate?
