What's next? We've never went to space? Despite having a space station you can actually see with a cheap supermarket telescope. Moon landings are fake, despite all the left over tech after the astronauts left the moon?
All the fine men and women that work for space agencies Nasa, ESA, SpaceX are doing their very best to get humanity into space and start a new era for us. The space age. If only idiot politicians spent more on space agencies, than on war, we'd probably have hundred meter long ships out of sci-fi movies in real life!
Because Nasa fakes shit and it makes people wonder why. Nasa admits to the pictures of earth being paintings. Nasa is full of shit, but the earth is not flat. There's definitely a curve.
It's an interesting phenom, people outright denying science & absolutely provable facts. I've seen it on here in a million plus 5 itterations.
I suspect it's becoming more common because of the way people access information. Information, in and of itself should be free of bias, but unfortunately, most people get their information from the internet.
That's the problem. When you look up something at, say, the library, you get all the relevant sources. Unfortunately the internet doesn't work that way. When you use the internet, as a casual user, you use search engines. Search engines are paid by host sites that give them income based on the amount of clicks they get. Search engines make money when you click on a particular site, and because of this search engines use very complicated algorithms in order to present you with sites that you're more LIKELY to click on...aka shit you already agree with. It is literally in their financial interest to present you with information that you find favorable, aka skewed, biased information.
So, for an extreme example, if I googled "guns are stupid," "why are their so many school shootings?" And "gun control" & then searched statistics about gun violence, I would likely find results that statistically portray guns as bad, cement my opinion & portray guns as a threat to society.
It just creates a wealth of confirmation bias & echo chambers, to the point where people believe things to be true that are scientifically not true...& that's because there are countless sources on any topic, with convincing arguments & what appear to be actual resources that confirm what those who googled them already believed & those sources are readily available to anyone.
& it is incredibly harmful. That's why science denial has become a plague...anti vaxxers, flat earthers, people who believe the pandemic was a conspiracy to sell 5g or for Bill Gates to implant people with microchips via a supposed vaccine. People who believe those things are everywhere, because when they search those topics, they find "sources" that support their opinion, thus creating echo chambers. It's bad...& it's been exacerbated by certain politicians who declare that anything they disagree with is "fake news"
But look at the posts on here lately about the election being a giant conspiracy perpetrated by Venezuela & the blatant ignoring of all the responses with ample citations, historical evidence & articles...& the response was "fake news"
It's everywhere, and if you think you're immune because you know better, you're wrong.
Earth is flat, NASA tries to convince people otherwise with their fake news. But Earth is FLAT! Honestly, I think people who think the Earth is round are a bunch of retarded sheep who can't think for themselves. However, I am optimistic that the flock is soon to wake the fuck up
Just remember this...we all believe the world is round because thats what we have been told and is all that we have known...
if instead from the dawn of time they said the world is flat and kept to it then that would be what we believe, and would think that the world being a sphere is madness.
Ultimately, we only know what we have been told, government lie about thousands of things, maybe this is one of them? who knows...
If the government turned around tomorrow and said the nearest sun besides our own has disappeared, what else can do you do but just believe what they say?
