The real issue here neglecting the media's input, whether she is mature enough for you. You haven't actually stated whether you two could work out. You've been dodging the actual thing you should be considering.
You know you'll have to keep the relationship out of public view until she's 18 depending on what state you live in. It seems simple enough to me.
That and I know a guy who dated a 15 year old girl when he was 19. They liked each other but she wasn't quite mature enough for him.
