His mother's and ex wife's ring

Hello so I was talking to my boyfriend the other day and he said that if ever proposes to me he would like to use his mother's ring, wich is sweet yes but still a little unconfy about it then comes the fact that he doesn't even own it anymore as his ex wife still has it wich makes me really uncomfortable, it's weird right? How can I possibly talk to him about this without hurtiing his feelings?

    Im sure it means a lot to him but if it's on an ex wife I don't want it either. I would want a personally selected one. You should let him know

    If you mean his ex-wife received it from him as her engagement ring, then it's her ring now, so it doesn't seem to be an option anyway for him to pass it on to you.

    I reckon he's bullshitting but in case he's not, you need to let him know you're not comfortable with having a ring he's already given to his first wife.

    I agree it's a very weird idea.
