Since when did knowing what you want in a relationship make you an asshole? You aren't an asshole. It's perfectly ok to have standards. Dating is messy; it involves rejecting people and being rejected, but there is nothing wrong with knowing what qualities you desire in a partner. Quit apologizing for that.
