Having trouble distinguishing between dreams and real life?

Sometimes I have a bit of trouble remembering whether or not an event was actually a dream or whether it actually occurred in real life. Generally they are only very minor events, not very major. Something like a small phrase that someone said or did etc. Usually how it starts is the thought or memory will come into my head and I seriously can't remember if it was a dream or not.

When your dreams are mundane and very close to reality, they can sometimes become mistagged in your memory as actually being experienced.

Dream activities don't leave you with a criminal record or std's.

Yep, sometimes it's memories from my childhood, and other times it's more recently. Did it really happen, or did I dream it?

It happens to me sometimes. As long as it's only minor things, you should be absolutely fine

I reckon this is quite common with especially vivid dreams: the ones I find difficult are sexual dreams about someone and then running into them soon after - very awkward for a little while. Also the dreams where someone in your life is treating you badly in the dream but not in real life: hard not to feel hurt when you see them again when awake.

Actually, I sometimes have a little bit of difficulty separating daydreams and fantasy from real life when I run into the person or people concerned.

I'm pretty sure the times I flew through the air were dreams, except for when I have traveled by airplane.

I spent 20 years thinking a memory had been a dream, until my sister told me that it actually happened. Confusing.

If you thought something was a dream why would you hold memories of it for 20 years?

Don't you remember any dreams you had as a kid? I remember a few.

Just one but it was a terrifying repeating nightmare that I had over and over again.

Yeah, me too: I had two terrifying dreams often when I was a child, so terrifying I could never tell anyone what I'd been dreaming. I would have trouble when I woke up believing they had been dreams.
