all the time.. I couldn't hear/comprehend so well as a kid (still have some trouble with that) so most songs on the radio I still hear the words I did as a kid. I though the song that says "just like the white winged dove" is "just like the one we know" and that "big ol' jet airliner" is "we don't shed any light on". There's this site called amiright.com that has a bunch of 'mondegreens' (misheard lyrics), it's pretty funny. For that last song, one of them thought it was "Bacon cheddar lighthouse" and one of my favorites is from "Mrs. Robinson" they heard the hook as "She's a slutty Mormon you will know" (instead of 'Jesus loves you more than you will know')... if you hear the song it actually does sound like that lol.
Ha! For the *longest* time I had three for Mrs. Robinson. Until I just looked up the lyrics now, I thought I had two but I've just found a third. These are mine:
"Put it in your panties with your cupcakes"
"Oh, won't you please Mrs. Robinson?"
And the one I've just realised, the lyric says it is:
"Joltin' Joe has left and gone away"
Whereas I thought it said "Joe di Joe has left and gone away" and I thought Joe di Joe was American slang for Joe diMaggio. I've only found that out by posting this story and seeing your reply.
Have you ever misheard a song lyric?
