I think it was more of a curse. For a certain period of time, all the new cats we would get would die from a car hitting them. Or maybe it was always the same driver pushing on the pedal when he saw a cat crossing. Or suicidal cats. Bope.
It's been a very long time now since we had a cat die that way. I have to admit, my cats are weird. They go lay down in the middle of the street sometimes or go under a cars wheels, like what the hell is wrong with them?
Ever think of just keeping them inside and safe? If it's not your fault, then whose is it? It's your cat, and the road is for cars. It's not the driver's fault. It's not the cat's fault. That leaves YOU.
At the risk of offending people I genuinely like, I'm pondering why you got voted down to -4 for talking about keeping animals safe.
My ex is a cat person and she suspects her neighbour poisoned her outdoor cat because he was leaving a mess in the neighbour's garden. She has another cat now and has made the choice to keep her as an indoor cat, partially against her wishes because she doesn't like restricting freedom. But she's opted for safety over freedom. I wonder if that's a metaphor for the world we humans live in.
Excuse me? So it was my fault that my cat who for 16 years was never ill, went missing one day and I found her eventually after what it seemed like she had was a stroke?
You can't lay the blame on the owner when some people drive like maniacs with no respect whatsoever.
Oh right. It is my fault that they run through my legs when I open the door. It is my fault that I let them live their lives instead of being stuck inside a home and having shit all to do. It's also my fault that I can't drive and decide to drive over the speed limit and end up hitting a cat. It's also my fault that I don't help my cats look left and right before crossing the street. I might as well just go unemployed and put a gps on my cats so I can watch them all day and night.
I don't know how I sleep at night. Thanks for pointing it all out to me.
So you rather see the cats live outside, never having a warm home, food, interacting with people? Die because of the cold weather in the winter? Or maybe hunger?
I think all of the cats I ever had would have died by a car anyday than to have lived outside in the cold, having to fend for themselves and having nobody to take care of them.
So if I ever have kids one day, I'll keep them at home. I won't let them go outside because someone in a car might hit them.
Have you ever got a pet and got rid of it immediately?

We got a new cat, a week later it died from a car hitting it. It wasn't my fault.

Aww poor kitty! D: Cats have a terrible habit of being too confident and not getting out the way.
