Have you ever experienced death?

If so, what's it like? Is death alot like sleep or is it alot different? Is death alot like being in purgatory where you hang out for extended periods of time? Is heaven and hell actual things? Or is death just utter nothingness where you don't see, hear, or experience anything else? Or do souls of the dearly departed just wander on Earth among the living as Angels, Fallen Angels, and Poltergiests?

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • When I was around 3 (give or take a year), I almost drowned in a swimming pool. Don't know if that counts as experiencing death, but I can tell you that it's a memory permanently etched into my brain. Anyways, everything was really blurry and super bright. My head hurt and it was more uncomfortable than painful. At some point, I blacked out and all I remember after that was waking up throwing up water.

Basically, nothing mystical happened (or at least, I don't remember it happening). What happened was what you'd expect to happen with someone drowning in a body of water.

  • An in-law of mine was once in a terrible car accident, and was dead for a couple of minutes before she was revived with a defibrillator. She said she left her body, and that it was very peaceful. Then she felt a pain in her chest and was back in her body.

  • -Sigh- Alright, I'll tell you. I'm not sure if people will like to hear this, but here it goes.

I have experienced death. I know, it's a shock, I know. Right now I am on the internet in heaven (I know, weird, I made it to heaven), and the internet connection is amazing.

Well, basically heaven is like a nice place, gardens, white, beautiful buildings, and so on. Right now I am in the outdoor garden table. Not much bad you can say about it. Hold on, Michael is asking me something.

    ...

Back. Lol, that Michael, he so silly. Anyway. Yeah, it's alright. A shortage of chairs, though, but the food. Oh my God, the food is to die for...Literally.

  • Nope, even if could answer the question, I would be dead. So I wouldn't be able to answer, cause using the internet, while being dead is probably hard... XD

So, you'll just have to grow old and die to experience it.

  • I hear it's really hard to get phone or wifi reception from Heaven or Hell so I don't think you'll be able to find out here, unfortunately.

  • The awesome part about death is no one can really tell you one way or another. Near death experiences trigger a chemical release in the brain called DMT this is also thought to be released during deep REM sleep.

Basically, people all over the world have had near death experiences. Yet they all claim to of gone to heaven or hell regardless of faith or religion.

The DMT explains this as it's all in the pre disposition of the person and their ingrained belief system before the over-load of DMT is dumped and you literally trip balls. Christians see christian heaven & Muslims see Islam heaven.

I've had much experience in "consciously dying" though meditation and other means. The act of literally allowing the ego to die and the act of merging with the source of all that is. It feels wonderful and is an experience of pure love and gratitude. I'd recommend it too everyone regardless of faith. If you have anxiety about death meditation will help.

  • Yes, many times. Not my own, though.

  • The French call ejaculation, "La petite mort", which literally means "the little death". So yes, I've died thousands of times. Ain't life grand!

  • My friend dared me to swim under a boat, and being the idiot that I am, I tried, but got stuck on something, then I started drowning. Then after the sixth gulp of water (I can't remember how many) everything got blurry, though I could tell that I was still drowning. It was very calm, though I was still chocking, and I saw a light wherever I looked, and it was so nice... And then my friend came and dragged me out of the water, and that was it. I didn't see any angels or devils though.

  • I flatlined after a car accident. Death isn't really all its cracked up to be. No white light, no heaven, no hell. Just the moment you die, then the moment you wake up.

  • I've had many dreams about dying, but have I ever died in real life? No. I mean, it's not something I really would want to experience per se, but I guess it would be interesting to know what death is like, you as know, as long as you don't stay dead forever.

Maybe one day science can tell us.
