I'm a bit squeamish about blood, honestly. I've never fainted at the sight of it, but needles make me feel faint and the only time I've ever fainted in my life was during a drugs ed class when they showed a film about needles. I had to excuse myself from a biology class about drugs once because I felt wobbly once, too. I think I feel that way because I was always been taught to be extremely suspicious and even afraid of hard drugs (my family has a history of drug use. Heroin specifically, which is why the idea of needles give me that reaction when smoking or snorting don't.).
I've generalised that fear response to all needles (the context of drugs makes the reaction stronger), and generalised that to blood and blades. Even typing about it makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. I'm touching my wrists and neck as I type. It's actually got worse over time; I never used to feel anything and I even thought being scared of blood was a bit silly.
I've cut myself on my fingers by accident, but that's it. Tips of fingers have more calloused skin and no visible veins, so that bothers me a lot less than I would be bothered if I got a cut on my wrists or neck. I got loads of cuts on my finger tips when I started playing guitar, and I got them when I moved away to university and had to start cooking for myself every day.
Have you ever cut yourself with a blade?
