Have you ever cut yourself with a blade?

  • No, but my family had the gull to accuse me of such when all I did was merely ask to inspect some razors! This was, I think in the late or mid 2000's, and during this time self-harm became focused on in the media. Keep in mind that I was a sheltered kid, who barely watched the news and hadn't the faintest clue as to what self-harming was. They treated me like a convict. I once saw my mom putting the razors behind the mirror in the cabinet and she turned, looked at me and basically threatened me not to go into that cabinet and take one of the razors because, she found out, I would be in so much trouble. Can you image how that made me feel?

I did, however, in the Summer of 2008 started cutting my gums with dental floss to suit my masochistic needs. It was a really inopportune time to do this because, The Dark Knight had just come out and my method of cutting, of course, left these noticeable ravines in the sides of my mouth. I didn't noticed this and neither did my family for quite awhile, but when one person did, it was as if every suddenly could see it. My friends and the counsellors that I was close with were either taking me aside or asking me in front of others if something was going on and that I could always talk to them. Very embarrassing and difficult. I finally and sadly had to force myself to stop when my dentist noticed this and became concerned. My family weighed the fear of social services taking me away over my head. *sign*

    • That's sad to hear but wait, I'm confused, how's The Dark Knight related? I've rewatched that movie a bunch of times but I don't remember it having anything to do with that kind of cutting.

As for the gums thing, I used to like to irritate my gums at the back before the teeth grew in by biting on them. It was a nice kind of pain.
      Edit
Ohh. Wait a sec. No, sorry, I get it. I thought you meant the gums themselves, not the edges of your mouth. Whoops.

      • I did mean the gums themselves. It was the way that I implemented the dental floss that caused it to imprint deep ravines into the sides of my mouth.

The Joker had makeup all over his face. More Specifically, around the edges of the mouth, I remember him having red makeup that went outward like The Black Delilah's cuts on the edges of her mouth. Everyone thought that I was trying to emulate the Joker and they would frequently ask despite me always telling them "No."

        • Ahh, okay. Sorry, imagined that a little wrong.

Yeah, I realised that after the edit. Must've sucked, though, really am sorry to hear about it. I guess everyone sort of payed more attention after the movie. Bad luck.

    • I forgot to add that I have also accidentally injured myself with shaving razors.

And during food preparation and when cleaning tuna fish cans.
