On what was my last day working for a catering company providing staff at upper-class sporting events (horse races, golf, boat races et al); I rebelled a little on purpose.
I wore my favourite Buffalos and was told to change into shoes that didn't look like moon boots.
I couldn't do ties properly at the time - and still can't. I was told to sort it out by a member of staff.
After a stroppy exchange of words between us two and a colleague doing my tie for me, I loudly said "You bitch." and one of the chefs told me I would get sent home if I continued like that.
I behaved myself for the rest of the day and was glad to away from that company... but at the same time I regret it now.
Most of the fellow waiting staff/barpeople were really nice and we were sometimes allowed to eat leftover foie gras/other stuff if too many of a particular dish had been made.
Oh, and eating little sneaky tidbits on the job was great fun!
