    • I like that. I believe I was improperly diagnosed and have lived life without medication and the mental illness went away.

  • I was diagnosed about 7 years ago with Depression, Attention Deficit Disorder (without hyperactivity), Autism & Dyslexia if you consider those mental disorders...
My life is greatly affected by all these things.

    • Yes I would say those are mental problems, dont let them hold you back though and always try to achieve in what you think is worth achieving.

  • yes (no meds anymore) but I don't think I really have one. diagnosed with depression first, then add, which I completely do not have at all. almost put me on meds for that so I think the doctor was just shitty. all the doctors ive seen have said im depressed but I still don't think I am.

  • I have been misdiagnosed.

  • I voted yes (depression, anxiety, insomnia), and I don't take any medication for it. But when i think about it, i did smoke marijuana, which originally was just to get high, but then i started using it medicinally as well. So if you consider marijuana to be a medicine ( which i fully believe is the greatest medicine known to man, and a natural herbal remedy at that !), then yes, i take medication.

  • I was diagnosed with ADHD and OCD. I believe those were misdiagnoses, I know believe that I had Schizophrenia since I was a child. I guess I'm close to a proper diagnose, a relative told my psychiatrist that I'm paranoid. Then, everyone started asking me extremely personal questions. I know it's schizophrenia, but I'd feel more comfortable with telling my doctor the truth when I'm in college or if I get a new doctor. If I say everything now, I'm scared that they'll see me in a completely different light or try to put me away:( They including my psychiatrist already laughed at me about my paranoia n my last session. I told them to stop, but they wouldn't. So, why should I have to come out with my symptoms to them if they proved that they can't handle the situation properly? They're already trying to put me on meds without properly diagnosing me first!

  • I have ADHD and don`t take meds. When I tell people I have ADHD they are always VERY shocked because I`m the most shy person you`d ever meet in real life. But I have rapid thoughts, they just keep coming and coming. And I get distracted in school very easily. But I`ve worked around it and my parents worked on it with me from a young age and I have improved a lot from where I was when I first was told I had ADHD. But I HATE!! HATE when people call it a mental disorder, because I do not have a mental disorder! My brain just works faster then most peoples.

  • "Yes, but I'm just living my life day by day. No meds."

I'm diagnosed ADD. However I do want to get meds. I just have to get motivated enough to apply for VA care to get them.

  • Anxiety disorder, and recently I found out I have a personality disorder. Something called 'Schizoid' disorder...(NOT schizophrenic.)

  • I'm dyspraxic, and I didn't find out until I was 14 (which was awkward, seeing as my parents knew for my entire life but never said). Sometimes I feel like I have an illness, but a lot of the time I can easily forget that it exists. Never taken meds for it.

  • I have ADHD, and I used to take 20 mg ritalin for it, but then I got distracted and stopped. But all jokes aside, I stopped taking it unless I have big tests or serious stuff. Same with many of my friends.

  • I'm going to go to the doctors in a few weeks to tell them I might have depression. Finally after abour 3 years I've managed to get the courage to speak out about this! :'D

    • Be prepared in case you find that you can't speak or think of examples of your behaviour by writing it down. About 20 years ago I was involved in a car accident and had head injuries. It led to loss of memory and depression, I didn't even know my own name :o) which is funny now. But, I went to the doctor and burst into tears - for no reason!! Luckily coz I'd no memory I'd written down a few things I wanted to tell him.

Got my memory back ok but am still a little eccentric ;o)

  • I went to the doctor for something completely unrelevant to this subject (I was 13) and my mum asked to talk to the doctor alone so I went in the waiting area until called in and then we all talked about how I should be examined. He then later on went on to say that "we wont put you in a clinic straight away", which my thoughts were that if I decided to get examined I might be put into a clinic and that would be put into my record for what ever problem I might of had. There was also another time when I was young when I was being questioned by someone. They were asking me what my favorite music was and whats my favorite films etc and the what moods I am usually in. I remember I lied through quite alot of the questions.
There is a posibility that I might have mental dissorder or a personality dissorder but I dont plan on finding out because by doing so it would go on my record and I wont be able to have as much choice for a living when im older. Either way if I did I dont think it would be a big deal, nothing would change. I also am not saying I have problems, I couldnt possible know.

    • They really put things like that on a record? I though maybe that was a myth. I remember asking my mother to let me have a sleep test to see if I had a sleeping disorder and she said when I was older, because it would go on my "record". Do they put mental illnesses on it or just visitations to hospitals/clinics on it?

      Comment Hidden ( show )
    • I'm the same way. I think I have a problem too, but I don't want it on my record.

      • I was improperly diagnosed with everything except for bipolorism and ocd. They classified me as everything else existing in the book which was later dis-proven. If I had to classify myself I would put it as OCD. They did not properly investigate any claims made but listed it on my diagnoses anyways. Was later dis-proven by 3 other doctors that said none of that was actually credible.
