This is depression. I have it too. It sucks. People think of depression as that thing that makes people kill themselves, but there is an amazingly wide spectrum of symptoms, of which you've named quite a few. There are many online resources for information, but the best course of action from my experience is to let a psychologist help. Nothing that you've done would cause this, it's just a genetic thing that hits some people as they get older. Things will get more manageable, at least, if not better. There's a good chance you will be referred to a psychiatrist because there are many great pharmaceutical options these days. There is absolutely nothing wrong with these, the only effect you'll notice, unless you happen to have an allergy (as I had with fluoxetine), is being less depressed. Hope this helps!
cont'd ... NOT TRUE there's nothing wrong with anti-depressants! They have serious negative effects on many if not most people: lack of affect; libido disfunction; weight gain; lethargy; deepening of depression to the point of suicide.
Counselling yes, preferably not with a psychiatrist, bc they're more inclined to prescribe useless/dangerous drugs. Cognitive Behavior Therapy with a psychologist works for many people

What's your evidence depression is genetic? So it has nothing to do with trauma or other environmental factors? Rubbish!
It's
