Have any of your tried getting into canada with a prior arrest?

Note- I said arrest. I have two arrests in my past (not for dwi/dui, etc). Both charges were dismissed and expunged. I have no criminal records. Do you think I will be able to enter Canada via land? I have heard Canada is very strict about individuals ever involved with criminal justice.

Particularly the truck drivers on here or frequent travellers, have you ever had any problems entering Canada? Any suggestions?

If the charges were relatively minor and were dismissed there is unlikely to be any issues. Really major ones?

One nice thing is that you can actually look up a phone number (or do a web inquiry) and call in advance and discuss your question and issue with the Canadian Border officers and get a pretty solid answer.

I once called them on how to move a large sum of cash (or cash-able securities) across the border. They were very polite and happy to discuss the process and the rules in advance. Note that I also called the US side as well as you also have to declare it when you leave the country.

I had no problem with the actual border crossing once I knew the process and followed it.

I was buying some custom build furniture which I did not know how good it was. The craftsman insisted on cash. So I carried about $18,000 in American Express Travelers checks across the border (driving a U-haul truck); had arranged at a financial institution in Canada to be ready to cash that amount of US travelers checks, and was able to inspect the furniture, pay the man, - and load it in the truck and drive back to the USA with it.
