Hatred of texting

Is it normal to despise the act of texting? I just don't get it. I understand if you're on the computer IMing, and I guess I understand texting if you're in class or something and don't want to be caught. I just hate people who try to text at times when it's just so much easier to call. IIN?

Texting Blows! People texting while driving should run into trees and die. It may save them from killing an innocent driver. People who walk around texting should fall off the curb and be hit by a cycle. Motor or bike. People who hold up traffic while texting should be jerked out of their cars and thrown under a bus. I got so sick of receiving useless texts that I cancelled my basic service, got a pay by minute cell and told everyone that it will never be turned on. Only use it for emergencies or turn it on if I am on the way to meet someone. It makes me sick to see how society has degenerated, and I know it will only get worse.

I don't like texting because I have to stop whatever I'm doing and sit there typing onto my screen (I have an iPhone). I'd just as soon talk, but I know that most of the people who text do it because they could never stay on the phone for say, 15 seconds, because of how awkward that would be. They want to avoid the whole "hi - how are you? what are you doing?" part of the conversation and get right to the point. They also manage to avoid the "well..guess i'd better be going now..." part of the conversation as well, so I guess texting has its advantages...

    • if you have an iphone and you dont text then why not just buy a lap top? its the same thing. and btw, i love texting it is very convenient and its a simple way to get a hold of somebody. i dont see why some of you hate it so much. do me a favor and pick up your phone and send a text message to somebody. its as simple as that. grow up.

I am so happy to see this! I feel this way too, so much so that I don't even having texting. I get excuses from people who don't want to talk on the phone. "I feel uncomfortable talking, I'm lazy, That's so old" What is this world coming to? Social awkwardness will become worse than ever! My essay for college was on this subject and how it's crippling for some people.

I don't like texting... it's much more convinient with keypad phones, but not flip ones. I do text, when I can't get a hold of people, I hate voicemail or it's just something small to say at the moment. I just don't see how some people, they need unlimited texting and such because their afraid they'll run the TXTing. I think the most txt messages I've ever sent in a day is like 2. Oh. and I never really listen to voicemail on my cell, people reach me better through txt... I usually see I miss a call and call back.

Omfg I know. I'm so happy there's someone else who feels this way. I hate texting, I think its the slowest and most inconvenient way to communicate nowadays yet everyone seems to love it. I don't understand at all.
