  • "if there was a civilization around 6 or 7 thousand years BC, what would still be left?" If it's a proper civilization then an incredible amount. Their are archaeological sites around from pre-neolithic era. If it's a civilization that supposedly built the pyramids then there should be an ungodly amount of writing left over. Plus we know from inscriptions and stuff who built a lot of the pyramids. We have literature telling us about people like Sneferu who built them.

You're right about there being no way to know what life is about 10,000 years ago, tbf, without literature. You can understand certain things but not others (Hawke's ladder of inference).

The pyramids aren't just burial sites, dude; they're great monuments of prestige, too."Why would they build a giant pyramid in relation to the position of smaller, unimpressive pyramids?", why build a pyramid at all? It's clearly not a pragmatic thing to do.

We have inscriptions in the pyramids showing they were for burial. We have ancient authors from different cultures showing they were for burial. We've found an ungodly amount of mummies in them, showing they were for burial. We have literal texts from ancient Egypt showing they were from burial. There's no doubt they served that function. You're perfectly right that not all of them were used for burial, but a hell of a lot of them certainly were, and unless you're someone like Sneferu then you're not going to be able to build a shit loads of practice pyramids.

Also, there are archaeological techniques to date things like pottery, we know when the civilization was about. There are no remains of a great prior civilization that built the pyramids.
