A few of my friends stayed in a hostel in Krakow, Poland.
There were blood and poo stains on the sheets. Next door to their room a group of very randy German men were staying. One of my friends then was sexually assaulted. And then apparently they all cried because they didn't want to sleep in the dirty beds.
I had a friend who stayed in a hostel in Rome. She said it wasn't so bad. She had no complaints.
If you stay in a hostel, just pick one carefully. Do your research. If you can afford a hotel room, then do so!
