Happy to work fast food

I'm 35 and happy... I'd rather work fast food then a career job... My gf and parents have problems with it but I don't... I have more money saved then my friends do because I also don't see the need for a house or car..career jobs like a cop or teacher etc.. Seems to hard or stressful...weird?

Is It Normal?

  • Do whatever makes you happy! If it is the fast food then do fast food!

  • Depends: Nothing at all wrong with working fast food. A lot of people dedicate their time to different forms of art/hobbies/interests, and have "transcended" , if you will, the need to make a go of themselves in this world.

If you want to advance, however, and are either too lazy or afraid of failure, then you're not in a healthy situation.

Overall, there's much to be said and desired about a simpler life.....trust me.

  • When you say you don't need a house or car...where are you living now? With your parents or somewhere else?

  • if it makes you happy then who cares. There are millionaires out there who would give it all up to be happy. Money doesn't buy happiness, although it doesn't hurt either... I work in the retaurant business and I started in fast food, it was some of the best experience/training I ever got. Their are plenty of career advancement opportunities in the field. Don't trade in your happiness for someone else because if that is the case, then I would reconsider who is in my life.

  • You don't know how good is to have xtra money , and your own house , or your car , if your gf leave you is gonna be kinda hard to find another one that will take u in that job , girls want money and a secure future for their kids , they be scared of u.

  • There's something to be said for a minimalist lifestyle. I do think people (myself included) put too much emphasis on acquiring "stuff". If you can live on your own and have everything you need, more power to you.

If you are living with your parents, though, you might want to consider doing something that pays enough for you to live independently.

  • If you are genuinely happy about it, I see no issue. It's a job, the same as any other. However, if you're posting the question here, perhaps you have doubts. If they have been implanted by your girlfriend/family, fair enough. But it's worth spending a little time considering your own aspirations.

Not to colour the issue at all, but I do have a responsible, well-paid job, and working in fast food sounds like heaven to me at the moment.
