I'm a girl and when ever I get nervous say around people I smile a lot and place my hands in my pockets.

When I'm out walking alone I do it to cause I feel paranoid people are watching me

is it normal I put my hands in my pockets when nervous lol

    Sounds normal. Trying to hide yourself whenever you feel wrong is normal. I do it cause I think it looks cool, but whatever...

    Hiding yourself when you feel shy, embarrassed or unsafe is normal body language. It's why people also cross their legs, cover their face and so on or get low to disappear from view.

    I am a guy and i do it too. Its quite normal, but you might appear more outgoing if you tried to keep your arms in more open positions
