Pubic hair serves to confirm that you are "more likely" to be mature enough for sexuality, even if only EMOTIONALLY so. LEGALLY is not so easy of a correlation. Which is part of the grounds for many folks being so often skeeved to totally squicked by hairless pubes.
Hair ain't proof of age, but it's not being there can be scary merely for the legit concerns. People LIE about ages. There's also the fact of it being scary as an indicator of pedophilia fantasies WHEN IT"S AN INORDINATE DEMAND. Caps needful to show the cross over point.
Wanting smooth pubes of itself ain't scary. It's when it's a paraphilia that I fear it as of potentially very grim things.
But? there's a closing to ponder: Many want no hair there on their pubes purely for sanitation. Periods and other hygiene realities independent of gender, are way easier to clean up absent hair.
