Don't worry about it too much. Girls at least like to TRY to handle situations for themselves.

However I kinda like it if my bf at least says something like "she's taken. Back off."
As far as 'fighting', I wouldn't want you to do that either. I guess its like an "i don't want you to get hurt" kinda thing. Plus its dramatic -_-
