What do you consider the cap to be on "older"? There's a woman whose desk I pass when I go into the office and she's got a really pretty smile. I've thought about flirting with her but haven't worked up the courage yet because I'm 32 and I think she might be in her mid-40s
I generally stick to around a ten year age difference. I had a dear friend who was like a mentor, and he told me no more than a seven year age difference.
Regardless, I think you should talk to her, and ask her out to coffee.
