Gun restrictions are causing mass murders... everyone should carry, iin?

In the old days, everyone had a gun and there was a balance of power between the good and the bad. Now only cops, who can't be everywhere at once, and criminals/psychos have guns. What happened to our gun culture??

I'm talking about the U.S. of course, where we already have millions of guns in circulation.

Literally the exact opposite. More people have more guns than ever, and that's what there are so many mass murders.

    • BS... there are more people and less guns. The assumption is that if you buy a gun, you intend to kill people.

What happened to gun culture? Nothing. People can still get guns legally in the United States. The restrictions are there to make it harder for criminals to get them.

        Pure bullshit.
Learn some history. Like about why the US armories were created. Like how many guns existed against the amount of citizens (very few). You stupid lying clowns always lie and lie and lie and lie. Lies all easily disproven.

In the 1600s - 1700s, the American colonies were all forests. Deer meat was the only readily available food. You had to have a rifle, and be good at marksmanship just to feed yourself. In this wilderness environment, the American gun culture was born.

By 1776, there were 2.4 million people. France send an additional 120,000 rifles to the colonies to help the colonials shoot the redcoats who conveniently had a white "X" on their uniform. America's hunting culture shifted to become a forceful assertion in defence of freedom of speech, and to keep well intentioned tyranny at bay. America's obsession with guns only grew, from a rifle over every fireplace to collections like the Las Vegas shooter had.

You actually sound like an Australian. Your country had natural grasslands that sheep could graze on. The true blue convicts that settled Australia didn't need guns.

Chicago sounds believable. The existence of your history degree is doubtful. The eloquence with which you write is vastly inferior to that of an average college graduate.

    1) This isn't the "old days" anymore.
In the "old days", most people in society were trustworthy, honest ,decent, hard-working, and conscientious folks.

    2) In the "old days" there was a general understanding in the community of who were the most heinous criminals, who were low-level or petty criminals, and who were upstanding members of society. These distinctions have become nearly completely blurred or obscured.

    3) In the "old days", in general society, it was usually only people who had long-arms (rifles and shotguns), who needed these tools for hunting activities, who had guns, with a few exceptions.

    4) You have absolutely no idea of what you are harping on about. You don't understand how the real "balance of power" worked, nor will you ever understand, and I'm not going to tell you.

    5) The concept of 'good vs. bad', is superficial and ignorant. It rarely ever works in the real-world.
What is deemed "good" for one person, is invariably "bad" for another person, and vice versa.

    6) Cops are in too many places, where they do not need to be, and where they do not belong; and as a consequence of this, it has caused a tremendous amount of irreparable and irreversible harm and damage to society, at everyone's expense, including their own.

    7) Cops have become the most heinous psychos and criminals, who are utterly thoughtless, and who can't be trusted in the slightest.

Adding more guns won't ever solve the problem, it will only lead to more gun crime, eventually.
See, it's the utterly stupid cop-criminal who stubbornly refuses to shoot themselves in the head, for all the problems that they have caused; and there is no justice!

Having a gun is like having a parachute......it's better to have one and never use it than to need it and not have it......Hopefully you'll never need either....

It's better to be judged by 12 than to be carried by 6....

There should definitely be gun restrictions. Trump recently allowed mentally ill people to purchase guns, and then blamed mass shootings on mentally ill people. If he wanted to stop mass shootings, maybe he shouldn't be giving the people that he thinks are the problem a gun. Backwards logic

Increased murders have nothing to do with whether more or fewer guns are being manufactured or sold, it has to do with the changes in society and people's modern attitudes and responsibilities on how they handle themselves, others, and life's situations.

Genuine question, and I think you know me well enough to know I'm not saying this as an attack, same as I know you well enough to know you're a reasonable, sensible and knowledgeable person: Why does anyone need several guns?

      • wigz

Well...all of mine are different. I even have several of the same caliber but they are all unique in one way or another. The different calibers have different uses and the different styles, mechanisms, lengths, etc, make them more suited for one thing or another. I don't 'need' all of them, to be honest. I just like guns. I could pare it down to probably 4-5 that I could really justify a need for.

My panty collection is much the same. I don't need as many as I have, but I enjoy something unique about each pair.

Yes, very rural. Just bought a house a few weeks ago. We had to live in an apartment in town for about 7 months prior to this but other than that, we have always lived in the country.

See, I can understand a need for guns in a rural setting. I struggle to see what possible need people in cities have.

If ur concern is vigilante justice to stop mass murders which I think is ridiculous, but you should be against places where you can't carry. Not restrictions on ownership.

Cops and criminals and psychos make up a puny minority of gun owners in the us. As you say there are millions of guns. Any good guy can easily get a gun. Especially if a bad guy can.
